Fr. Michael has been pastor of St. Francis of Assisi church and school since July 2011. He was born and raised in the Portland area. He graduated from St. Mary of the Valley Grade School (now Valley Catholic) and Jesuit High School. After completing his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of Chicago, he entered Mt. Angel Seminary in Mt. Angel, Oregon.
After completing his philosophy studies at Mt. Angel Seminary, he was sent to the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy. He earned a Bachelor in Sacred Theology (STB) at the Gregorian University, Rome, in 2003 and a License in Sacred Theology (STL) at L’Accademia Alfonsiana, Rome, in 2006. He was assigned as the parochial vicar at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene, Oregon, from 2006-2009, before returning to school and completing his License in Canon Law (JCL) at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. in 2011. Besides his pastoral ministries, he is a judge in the Archdiocese of Portland Tribunal.
